Digital Dish: April 2020
As many businesses in the print industry continue to face new challenges and uncertainties over the coming weeks and months, we hope the Digital Dish can be a source of consistent value to you and your digital print business.
Each dish will feature a new nugget to chew on and fuel your digital cravings. This month, we hear from host, Jason Barbero, Senior Marketing Specialist with Canon Solutions America. Keep reading to learn more from Jason and CSA as he provides an overview of the media testing process within their new partnership program and reveals the newest sheet-fed inkjet press in their high-speed production portfolio.
UNIFIED PARTNER PROGRAM
Canon Solutions America has worked with partners in finishing, software and media for many years, and over a year ago, CSA introduced its Unified Partner Program to better serve its customers by consolidating and streamlining its products and services. The program offers 3 partnership levels, one of which allows CSA to work with media partners to ensure the paper that the mills provide works seamlessly in CSA equipment. The program is dedicated to providing its customers access to a wide variety of media, each being evaluated for compatibility across a wide variety of print technologies. With one of the strongest media programs in the industry, CSA has over 1000+ papers available worldwide. Our testing process includes physical testing, finishing compatibility, run-ability testing, and color analysis, as well as providing additional support for testing at customer sites. This allows our customers to get their presses up and running quickly so they can start printing right away.
PRODUCT INNOVATION
On top of these great partnerships, CSA provides tremendous products to evolve with the changing landscape and needs of the print industry. To that end, CSA is pleased to unveil its latest inkjet press: varioPrint iX-series. This new sheet-fed inkjet press revolutionizes the commercial printing business by enabling printers to earn more business and more profit, bringing exciting, new opportunities to CSA and Sylvamo's mutual customers. Building off the success of the VarioPrint i-series, which targeted book and transactional commercial printers, the new varioPrint iX-series is specifically designed for customers with production volumes of 1-10 million letter images per month doing high-quality color printing.
ALL-NEW varioPrint iX-SERIES
The varioPrint iX-series prints at speeds up to 4,500 12” X 18” sheets per hour (or 312 letter images per minute). It raises the bar on proven iQuarius technologies: combining the image quality of offset with the productivity and cost efficiency of production inkjet. Offering an average of 94% uptime, this press can print on a wide range of media ranging from 90 to 350 gsm with native 1200 dpi processing. Other press attributes include:
- A breakthrough drying system utilizing heat, humidification, and cooling that protects paper and helps ensure robust prints on your media – straight and ready for finishing
- New proprietary water-based polymer pigment inks and ColorGrip deliver high-quality, vibrant color
- Powered by a high-performance, media-driven PRISMAsync workflow
The varioPrint iX-series expects to be available for customer installation in Q3 2020.
